Important Information For K-Meleon Users
Windows Registry Entries
The K-Meleon 0.8 and later installers add registry entries that are required by several plugin installation programs. You do not need to add them by hand.
No XPInstall Support
XPInstall Packages (XPIs) are ZIP files containing plugins, themes or extensions for Mozilla and an installation script. Some browser plugins are distributed as XPI files to make installation easier for Mozilla users.
K-Meleon does not support XPIs. This may require special consideration when installing the following plugins:
- ActiveX Plugin for Mozilla
- Cortona VRML
- Cult3D
- FastBid
- iPIX
- Java Runtime Environment
- Macromedia Flash Player
When installing the above plugins, please refer to the following table:

Plugin Scanning
The following plugin scanning settings are enabled by default in K-Meleon:
- Scan for QuickTime 5.0 or higher
- Scan for Java Runtime Environment 1.3 or higher
- Scan for Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher
- Scan for Windows Media Player 7.1 or higher

Bugs specific to K-Meleon
- Bug 540 - Many plugins only work after loading about:plugins. Affects 0.8, fixed in 0.81.
- Bug 578 - navigator.javaEnabled() always "false". Causes Java to not work. Affects 0.7 SP1, 0.8, 0.81, fixed in 0.82.
Other Plugins
Any other plugins should work using the same instructions as for Mozilla.
